After a long chase, dreaded Mumbai gangster nabbed in Goa

In a joint operation, Goa Police and Mumbai Crime Branch on Sunday arrested from Panaji a dreaded criminal of Mumbai, who was allegedly involved in over 30 heinous crimes.The man, caught with live firearm, has been identified as Vikrant, alias Vicky. "In a late-night operation, Panaji Town Police Station and Navi Mumbai Crime Branch through their meticulous planning apprehended the most wanted and dreaded criminal of Mumbai, Maharashtra namely Vikrant alias Vicky Dattatrey Deshmukh," Shobhit Saksena, Superintendent of Police (SP), North Goa, told reporters here.

Police probing FIR against Sanjay Raut seek original audio from complainant to identify caller

The Mumbai Police probing the criminal intimidation case against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut is awaiting the original audio recorded by the woman complainant and will submit it to the forensic science laboratory in Kalina to identify the caller, an official said on Tuesday. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Raut on Sunday under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including insulting the modesty of the woman on a complaint lodged by a witness in a money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate, claiming she was threatened. Mumbai: Woman says 3 raped her below bridge in afternoon

A 40-year-old woman who lives on a footpath has accused three men known to her of drugging and raping her under the busy Dadar flyover in broad daylight on Saturday. One of the men has been arrested. The overall number of coronavirus tests in the state reached 8,32,07,144 after 18,775 swab samples were examined in the last 24 hours, as per official data.

State health department data showed the coronavirus fatality rate was 1.84 per cent while the recovery rate stood at 98 per cent.

The recovery count increased by 1,024 in the last 24 hours and stood at 78,87,372, leaving the state with an active caseload of 12,808, he said.

Mumbai records 164 new Covid cases in last 24 hours

Mumbai accounted for 164 of the new cases while the sole coronavirus-related death took place in Beed district.

The death toll increased by one to reach 1,48,105, he said, adding this figure, too, was a dip from the three Covid-19-linked fatalities registered on Sunday.

Maharashtra on Monday recorded 830 new Covid-19 cases, a sharp drop from the 1,849 patients detected a day earlier, which took the overall tally to 80,48,285, an official said.
